A facebook cover is a good place for illustrators to get their work seen but, as I write this, mine is blank.
It isn’t easy to just grab something out of the portfolio and plug it in. The dimensions of the space are a wide landscape. Also, the profile picture, along with other type elements, intrude on the image. With that in mind I decided to custom-make a cover.
The subject is an alien invasion, inspired the illustrations of pulp science fiction stories from the 1950s. The idea grew out of this compositional sketch I did a while ago.
This was fun to do and I’ll try to do more, maybe keeping up with the months, holidays and seasons.
